When looking to obtain auto financing when you have bad credit, every possession can be a serious mark against you. If you repossession was a part of a bankruptcy, then the 12 month rule does not apply. Repossessions that are a part of the bankruptcy are totally different in the eyes of lenders. Now, you're bankruptcy has to be over with. You can't have a current bankruptcy that is not completely discharged or dismissed by the court and expect to get car loan. That's just not going to happen and in fact, you really cannot obtain any credit at all, so long as a bankruptcy is still open and is not over with.
